Members of the East Bethel City Council act as the Local Board of Appeal and Equalization (LBAE). The LBAE has statutory responsibility to review estimated market values and property classifications in the city. The board hears appeals from property owners regarding the assessor’s estimated market value of their property and will either adjust the valuation, or uphold the assessment as sent out in the property valuation notice.
Meeting Information
Yearly (once per year prior to a City Council meeting in April or early May, will be posted on the City Meetings calendar)
How You Can Appeal Your Market Value and Property Class
If you believe the value or classification of your property is incorrect, please contact the East Bethel City Assessor to express your concerns. If you are still not satisfied with the valuation or classification after discussing it with your assessor, you may appear before the local Board of Appeal and Equalization. Generally, an appearance before the local Board of Appeal and Equalization is required by law before an appeal can be taken to the county Board of Appeal and Equalization.
